Barcelona center-back Samuel Umtiti has indicated he wants to stay at the Camp Nou as he is set for new contract talks Daily Mail, quoting El Mundo Deprtivo.
The 24-year-old is under contract at Barcelona until 2021 but his deal contains a release clause of £53m.
Jose Mourinho is determined to add elite level center-backs this summer that can elevate Manchester United into contention in the Premier League and Champions League.
Th Red Devils are understood to have made it clear to the player's entourage that they would be willing to trigger the clause.
And it has been used as an extra bargaining chip as the player looks to secure a better deal with La Blaugrana.
However the defender has provided an update on his situation and has said he is looking to stay at the La Liga champions.
"For my part, I want to renew,' Umtiti is cited as saying by El Mundo Deportivo.
"It's important to resolve this issue before the World Cup although if this is not possible, it would not bother me.
"At the moment, there is no more news or further developments."
Umtiti also praised Barcelona target and France team-mate Antoine Griezmann and stated he would be glad for him to play at the club.
"Griezmann? He is a fantastic player who would be a big signing for us," he said.
Enersto Valverde's side won the league in a dominant fashion as the Catalan club only tasted defeat once in 38 matches.
