Children's Day: Division must not be allowed to corrupt our children's minds, says Turaki

- Today, Sunday, May 27, is being celebrated as Children's Day all over the world

- Nigerian children are not left out in the celebrations with their counterparts worldwide

- Notable politicians are also using the day to send a message of hope to Nigerian children

Presidential aspirant under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (KTT) has felicitated with children across the country on the this year's occasion of Children's Day.

In a message to Nigerian children seen by NAIJ.com, Turaki stated that division based on race, religion or territorial boundaries must not be allowed to corrupt their minds.

While further appreciating children as spectacular gifts from the Almighty God, KTT said, “the children born into this world are gifted with the amazement in their eyes and with the joy of every inquisitiveness about wonderful creation of nature.”

He added that their world is filled with beauty and diversity, cautioning that as the Nigerian children are growing, division, based on race, religion or territorial boundaries must not be allowed to corrupt their minds

He said: “I join those who celebrate universal children's day and I extend my love and best wishes to them all.”

KTT however concluded that the parents must ensure that their children are protected and empowered to aspire to be great in life, and all impediments on their way to success must be fought against.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Children’s Educational Fund (UNICEF) on Sunday, May 27 pledged continued support to Kaduna state government to assist in taking off the streets the alarming number of children begging for alms.

Dr Zakari Adam, the chief field office, UNICEF Kaduna, made the pledge at the Fifth Chukker Polo Club, during the Children’s Day celebration, organised by UNICEF for school children.
