- Loris Karius heads to Germany from Anfield, hours after returning to Anfield after Champions League heartbreak
- He was quickly ushered through security as he makes the great escape from Anfield
- The 24-year-old is anxious to escape the hullabaloo surrounding his horrendous display during Saturday's UEFA Champions League final in Kiev
Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius was sighted at the Manchester Airport making a quick getaway on Sunday night few hours after arriving back in Anfield after his Champions League heartbreak.
The German was seen being quickly ushered through security at the airport to an unknown destination according to the Sun.
However, the 24-year-old shot-stopper was anxious to escape the hullabaloo surrounding his horrendous display during Liverpool’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid on Saturday.
Already, the Police have commenced investigation on death threats against Karius, whose squad place at Anfield is now in doubt as the Champions League finalist are now targeting a new goalkeeper following the German’s blunders in Kiev.
German boss, Jurgen Klopp is reportedly making a renewed attempt to bring in Roma’s Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson.
Also, Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak is on Klopp’s wish list but Klopp was prepared to persist with compatriot after his £4.7m move from Bundesliga side, Mainz ahead of Belgium’s Mignolet.
Painfully, it was a sad day for the German as his under armed ball went straight to Karim Benzema for Real's first and he also allowed Gareth Bale's long range drive slip through his fingers.
However, 48 hours after the math in Kiev, Karius remained inconsolable and apologised to Liverpool fans and team-mates for his two mistakes.
He wrote on social media: “I know I messed it up with the two mistakes and let you all down.
“Haven’t really slept until now. The scenes are still running through my head again and again. I’m infinitely sorry to my team-mates, for you fans, and for all the staff. #
"I’d just like to turn back the time but that’s not possible.”
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Merseyside police are investigating death threats made to Karius after his embarrassing performance in the Champions League final in Kiev against Real Madrid.
The Reds went down 3-1 to the Spaniards at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev Saturday night after two catastrophic goalkeeping errors cost his team.
Karius gifted Karim Benzema the opening goal of the contest after releasing the ball right into the path of the lingering Frenchman who deflected the ball home into the empty net.
