Presidency finally reacts after Osinbajo's meeting with nPDP

- Nigerian presidency has reacted after a meeting between Vice President Osinbajo and the nPDP

- Osinbajo had on Monday, May 28, held a closed door meeting with the leaders of the nPDP over alleged marginalisation in APC

- Laolu Akande, who is the spokesperson to Osinbajo, said that consultations will commence at all levels after the meeting

The Presidency on Monday, May 28, said that the meeting between Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and members of the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) who are angry with President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressive Congress (APC) for allegedly being marginalised by the ruling party, went well.

Nigerian Tribune reports that the meeting took place at the Vice President’s official residence, Aguda House, at the presidential villa, Abuja behind closed doors.

Legit.ng gathered that the group which broke out from the former ruling party helped the APC to power in 2015.

But its members have claimed that they had become increasingly marginalised by the APC and had consequently given an ultimatum to President Buhari to meet with them to iron out their grievances.

The senior special assistant to the Vice President on media and publicity, Laolu Akande, told the Nigerian Tribune that the meeting was cordial, saying that consultations will commence at all levels.

“The meeting indeed held. It went well. Consultations will continue at various levels,” he said.

The nPDP was also scheduled to meet with the president as a follow up to the meeting with Osinbajo.

But it was not clear when the meeting will take place.
