Gang up against Governor Wike will fail - Ekweremadu declares

Senator Ike Ekweremadu has said Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state will succeed in securing a second term in 2019 because the perceived gang up against the governor will fail.

Vanguard reports that the deputy Senate president made the statement on Monday, June 4, during his visit to Port Harcourt where he commissioned seven roads completed in Amadi- Ama community as part of the ongoing celebration of Wike’s three years in office as Rivers governor.

Ekweremadu said: “I see the feeling of satisfaction on the faces of the people. When you get the opportunity to serve, we must serve the people to the best of our ability. Governor Wike is serving the good people of Rivers State.

“By this time next year, his mandate would have been renewed by the people of Rivers State. By the time he concludes his second term, Rivers State would have been improved beyond expectations”

Speaking at the event, Governor Wike said the roads represent our commitment to the development of this community.

Meanwhile, a Lagos based legal practitioner has filed a court action against the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Ike Ekeremadu, for declaring the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, unfit to hold public office in and outside Nigeria and an enemy of democracy.

In the suit filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, the Senate arm of the National Assembly was joined as co-respondent.

Daily Trust reports that the suit is seeking among others, an order declaring that the National Assembly, Saraki and Ekweremadu, lack jurisdiction to declare IGP unfit to hold public office within and outside Nigeria and an enemy of democracy.
