Suspected cultists name Ogun lawmaker as sponsor

- Some suspected cultists have named a lawmaker in Ogun state as their sponsor

- They named the member representing the Sagamu constituency 1, Yinka Mafe, as their sponsor

- Mafe, who is also the majority leader in the state House of Assembly denied the allegation

The member representing the Sagamu constituency 1, Yinka Mafe, as been named by some alleged cultists arrested in Ogun state as their sponsor.

The four suspected cult member were arrested by the police for allegedly shooting and killing one person, identified as Arsenal-Nice in Sagamu area of the state.

Olushola Adedeji; Olusegun Olalekan, aka Musket;Azeez aka Anene; and Abolore, aka A.B, were arrested by the operatives of the zonal intervention squad, Obada, Abeokuta, Punch reports.

However, in his reaction to the allegation, Mafe, who is also the majority leader in the state House of Assembly, denied the allegation.

The news outlet reports that he denied the allegation via text message:

“I don’t react to beer parlour gists. I’ll rather they are charged to a court of competent jurisdiction so I have my day in court as a lawyer to defend myself. Thanks,” he was quoted to have said.

The Nigeria police have however revealed that investigation into the matter is ongoing.

“The case is under investigation. They (suspects) said they were working for one politician, but we are investigating it,” zonal police public relations officer, Dolapo Badmus, said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the police released the full list of suspects arrested in connection with April 5 multiple bank robbery in Offa Kwara state, during which 33 persons, including nine policemen, were killed.

Going further, the police also released list of all the exhibits recovered, banks and police station attacked during the robbery.
