Cristiano Roanaldo and his Portugal teammates were given an official send-off on Wednesday as their President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa turned out to wish them in Russia.

Portugal's squad were greeted at the National Coach Museum in Lisbon ahead of the start of the 2018 World Cup next week.

Portuguese captain Ronaldo shook hands with President Sousa and gave a speech as he addressed the rest of the squad.

The likes of Jose Fonte, Quaresma and Ricardo Pereira were all in attendance as Portugal begin putting the finishing touches on their preparations for Russia.

Fernando Santos side were held to a goalless draw by Belgium but have the chance to head to the tournament on a high when they face Algeria in their last warm up match.

Portugal are the current defending European champions and have been drawn into Group B alongside Spain, Morocco, and Iran.

The Seleccao will open their group campaign against Spain on June, 15, before matches against Morocco and Iran.

The Real Madrid talisman has 149 international caps for Portugal scoring 81 times for his country, and have only three times at World Cups.

The upcoming tournament in Russia is likely to be the 33-year-old's final chance at winning a World Cup at the peak of his career.

Portugal boast an exciting squad filled with attacking talent including Paris Saint-Germain's Goncalo Guedes, AC Milan's Andre Silva and Sporting Lisbon's Gelson Martins.

Southampton defender Cedric Soares, Manchester City's Bernardo Silva, Leicester midfielder Adrien Silva and new Leicester signing Ricardo Pereira are the four Premier League stars in the squad.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Portugal coach Fernando Santos released his 23-man list for Russia.

Barcelona's Nelson Semendo and Valencia winger Nani were dropped on from the party to the World Cup.
