Breaking: 4 terrorists killed as Nigerian troops ambush Boko Haram insurgents

Troops of 192 the Battalion taking part in Operation Lafiya Dole have killed 3 Boko Haram terrorists in an ambush successfully staged against some Boko Haram terrorists along Lokodisa village in Gwoza local government area of Borno state.

A statement by Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu, the deputy director of public relations of the Theatre Command of the operation, said the troops acted on reliable intelligence.

“The valiant troops staged the ambush in the early hours of today Thursday 7, June 2018, neutralising the terrorists after a gun duel. The troops also recovered three dane guns, 5 bicycles and a trolley,” the statement said.

In a related statement, the Nigerian Army said its troops of 145 Battalion deployed in 8 Task Force Division Area of responsibility killed a Boko Haram terrorist at Gashigar in Abadam local government area in Borno state.

“The terrorist was killed during a failed attempt by fleeing terrorists to escape through an identified route used by the insurgents.

“The vigilant troops also recovered one AK 47 rifle and one magazine loaded with 25 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition from the insurgents,” the statement said.

It added that 38 returnee refugees from Zigage in the Republic of Cameroon were also received by troops of 3 Battalion at Gamboru in Ngala local government area of Borno state.

The statement said refugees comprising 11 men, six women and 21 children have been profiled and handed over to officials of Gamboru Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps.

Legit.ng earlier reported that luck ran out on an armed robber as a personnel of the Nigerian Army attached to the 120 battalion in Gonori, Yobe state and who are currently on operation Lafiya Dole successfully disarmed him along the Lafia-Makurdi road, the security body has said.

A statement by Brigadier General, the director of Army public relations, said the incident happened at Daudu in Guma local government area of Benue state in the early hours of Wednesday, June 6, when the vehicle in which the soldier was travelling was attacked by a group of armed robbers.
