Arsenal plot £22m deal for Leverkusen’s goalkeeper Bernd Leno

English Premier League side Arsenal are continuing discussion with Bundesliga campaigners’ Leverkusen over £22m deal for Bernd Leno, reports suggest.

According to the UK Mirror, newly employed Arsenal boss Unai Emery is looking forward to land a replacement for 36-year-old with Petr Cech.

Leno has spent last seven seasons at the Bundesliga outfit and eggheads of Leverkusen are willing to allow the shot-stopper move on in the summer transfer.

However, the 26-year-old shot-stopper has a release clause of £22m which eggheads of the Emirates side are ready to meet in the coming days.

Indeed, Leno’s deal is another plus for the Premier League side as Arsenal’s head of recruitment; Sven Mislintat is showing class in the course in executing Gunners’ transfer projects.

At the last count, Arsenal have brought in defence backups listed with the arrival of Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus.

In addition, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have reached a £16m deal for defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

And Emery is still on course to bring in Sampdoria’s Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira in the coming days.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move for former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli this summer according to the Mirror.

The Italy international was impressive for his French Ligue 1 side Nice last season – netting 18 goals in 28 league appearances for the club.

His tally in all competition in the recently concluded season stood at 26 goals, and his performance has attracted the attention of some top clubs this summer.
