- The fixtures elicited mixed reactions among football fans, with some contending that the Premier League hates Arsenal
The Premier League fixtures for the 2018-19 season were released on Thursday, June 14, with all the participating 20 clubs knowing their schedule ahead of the new season.
However, it was Arsenal's opening matches that sent tongues wagging, with a section of Arsenal fans lashing out at the fixtures.
The London club will kick-off their 2018/19 EPL season at the Emirates when they host champions Manchester City on the weekend of 11-12 August.
The Gunners will then travel to Stamford Bridge the following weekend for their first away trip of the season to face Chelsea.
Supporters took to social media to express their displeasure with the fixtures as one supporter sensationally claimed that the Premier League hates Arsenal.
''Oh ffs, Man City then Chelsea. PL really do hate Arsenal," the fan wrote.
Another noted that new Arsenal manager Unai Emery had been handed the toughest start to the Premier League, asserting that an opening tie against City was "an arduous mountain to climb for Unai Emery and his charges."
However, others observed that the matches will provide a great opportunity for Unai to prove to the world that he is equal to the task.
