Enugu police declare alleged deadly gang wanted

- Enugu police command accuses a gang of being behind the killings of some people in parts of the state

- The command’s spokesperson, Ebere Amaraizu, says there are ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspects

Members of a deadly criminal gang accused of terrorizing some parts of Enugu state have been declared wanted by the state police command.

Premium Times reports that the command’s spokesperson, Ebere Amaraizu, in a statement said members of the gang have reportedly killed some people in Ehamufu in Isiuzo local government area of the state where they have been operating.

Amaraizu gave the names of some of the suspects as Emmanuel Edeh from Ehamufu and Chibuike Odoh also from Mgbuji Ehamufu.

He said the command was intensifying efforts to apprehend the suspects

“It was gathered that suspects believed to be ex-prison inmates had allegedly between 14/6/18 to 15/6/18 shot and killed no fewer than three persons and injuring one other inside the bush," command’s spokesperson said.

“Suspects as further gathered, kill whoever they come in contact with inside the bush. Operatives of the Enugu state command have commenced manhunt and urgent combing of bushes around Ehamufu and its environs with a view to fishing suspects out and recovering their weapons.”

Meanwhile, a Nigerian Twitter user identified as Andrew Solomon has lamented the excesses of the officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and the brutality Nigerians face at the hands of the officials.

Legit.ng notes that Solomon took to Twitter to express his frustration and to report a SARS official simply identified as John, who Solomon said has boasted that he could kill anyone without being punished by the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris.

Solomon tweeted: "This officer boasted to us that his name is John and that he is in charge of Auchi Agenebode road. He said even the IG can not discipline him should he kill us along that bush part. This man is a time bomb waiting to happen."
