Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed sadness over the bomb blast at Abachari area of Damboa local government area of Borno state.
Atiku gave his reaction via his Twitter account, @atiku, on Monday, June 18.
He tweeted: “I received with great concern, news of yet another attack in Borno with scores killed and many injured.
“My prayers and thoughts are with families of the deceased and injured even as I convey my deepest condolences over this needless loss of lives.”
NAIJ.com earlier reported that no fewer than 31 persons were on Sunday, June 17, killed and many others injured in a massive explosion in Damboa.
Confirming the attack, the Borno state commissioner of police Damian Chukwu, said the explosion occurred around 8.25pm.
Chukwu said: “Around 20:25 a loud explosion was heard around Damboa/Chibok road. The DPO mobilised with our men from the SARS and civilian JTF to the scene and found twenty people dead and 48 others injured."
He added that the injured persons have been taken to Damboa General hospital while some others were conveyed to the Teaching Hospital in Maiduguri for specialists’ for medical attention.
