Chelsea reportedly set to name Maurizio Sarri as new boss after settling Conte with £9.5m

Premier League giants Chelsea are ready to name Maurizio Sarri as new manager after agreeing a £9.5million deal to cancel the contracts of Antonio Conte as well as his assistants, the reports suggest.

The 59-year-old Italian in tipped to take over from compatriot at the Stamford Bridge outfit after Conte could not deliver ticket to Uefa Champions League football, no thanks to the Blues’ fifth spot finish at the end of hostilities last campaign.

The UK Daily Mail reports, that The FA Cup winner are likely announce Sarri’s arrival before the turn of the new week as they get set for the 2018/19 campaign.

On the other, Blues’ legend Gianfranco Zola will be named Sarri's assistant manager as he stages a comeback to Stamford Bridge, SunSport hinted recently.

The report further revealed that Zola, who is currently working as a pundit for Supersport in South Africa, is expected to rush back to London on Wednesday.

Interestingly, after bringing in Chelsea’s ex-boss Carlo Ancelotti at the Serie A side, Napoli’s eggheads insisted on £3.5m compensation fee.

On the other hand, Conte's stay at the Premier League side has not been the best as the Italian was reportedly linked with a move away from the Stamford Bridge.

At the last count, the former Premier League champions were linked with the likes of Laurent Blanc, Luis Enrique as well as Zinedine Zidane as possible replacement for Conte.

In spite of Chelsea’s failure to achieve a top four finish last term, the Blues’ under the outgoing Italian ended their campaign on the high after piping Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United 1-0 during the FA Cup final at the Wembley last month.

Chelsea are reported to have opened talks with top Ligue 1 midfielder, Tanguy N'Dombele, over a possible switch to Stamford Bridge as N'Golo Kante is linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho is preparing a £60m bid for Chelsea’s Willian during this summer.

The Red Devils’ Portuguese manager signed the 29-year-old Brazil international from Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013, while at Stamford Bridge, but is now eager to take the highly-rated midfielder to Old Trafford.
