Uncertainty hits Imo politics as politicians plan massive move to YDP

- An APGA governorship aspirant, Linus Okorie, declares his intention to pursue his ambition under YPP

- Some politicians aggrieved over alleged lack of fair treatment in their current parties fine tune plan to defect

- A unity list allegedly released in APC ahead of the national convention is reportedly causing disquiet in the party

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state may experience defections as some politicians from its fold are reportedly planning to defect to the Young Democratic Party (YDP) in the state.

Vanguard reports that another political party likely to join YDP includes the All Progresive Grand Alliance (APGA).

An APGA governorship aspirant, Linus Okorie, has already declared his intention to pursue his ambition under YPP.

He said his journey to Imo government house in 2019 would be for the benefits of youths in the state, insisting that YPP has been divinely positioned to bring hope to the people of the state.

Okorie said: “Some think that YDP is a small party but it is not true.

“YPP is gradually turning into one of the biggest political parties in Imo state. I want you to watch out and see what will happen. “I want to tell you that Imo youths are joining this movement for better governance.

“We have visited developed countries and saw how they have organised their affairs. I want to tell you that we will replicate that in this state and all of us will enjoy it by the time we take over Imo Government Gouse.”

NAIJ.com learnt that some politicians aggrieved over alleged lack of fair treatment in their current parties are already fine tuning plans to join YPP.

Meanwhile, fresh crisis is reportedly looming in the southeast chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over an alleged ‘unity list’ compiled ahead of the national convention of the party.

The unity list is reportedly a list of those to be supported to win in the upcoming elections. Daily trust reports that the unity list is similar to the one floated by the PDP during its convention, last year, which was essentially mooted and endorsed by the party’s stakeholders.

All those that appeared in PDP’s unity list last year reportedly won during the elections held at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

The decision to create a unity list for APC was informed by last week’s meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and APC governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
