Legit.ng gathers that Bebenimibo insisted that the reports were untrue.

He stated: “I am not a politician. How can one who does not belong to a political party defect from one political party to another?

“Tompolo is not a politician. He is just a political activist. He doesn’t belong to any political party please."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Tompolo chided the federal government for deploying military houseboats, gunships and fighter jets to the Niger Delta; saying it would not solve the region’s problems.

The former militant leader, who has been in hiding since the Economic Financial Crimes Commission declared him wanted, urged the government to use the money it was putting into the purchase of such military wares, into developing the Niger Delta region.

Tompolo was said to have escaped into the creeks where he is presently hiding to evade being detained by the commission's operatives.
