Double tragedy: Man crushed to death by mother’s coffin during funeral
A grieving son has been crushed to death by his own mother’s coffin during her funeral procession.
Samen Kondorura was one of the pallbearers who carried his mother's coffin up a makeshift bamboo ladder, when the ladder unexpectedly collapsed, causing the casket to come crashing down to the floor below.
The 40-year-old fell off the ladder and was crushed by the coffin, as it plummeted to the floor at the funeral in Sulawesi, Indonesia, Express UK reports.

The casket was hoisted onto a lakkian, an ornately carved tower where the deceased in Indonesia are placed before traditional funeral proceedings take place.
Narrating how the tragic incident happened, Julianto Sirait, chief commissioner of the Tana Toraja resort police said: "As the mother's coffin was being raised to the lakkian, suddenly the ladder shifted and collapsed, the coffin fell and hit the victim."
A shocking video taken by an onlooker shows a team of men carrying the coffin up the funeral tower, before the ladder slipped, sending the men tumbling several feet to the ground, where the deceased woman's casket tragically crushed her son.
Legit.ng gathered that Kondorura was rushed to the hospital but died shortly afterwards.
Kondorura's family reportedly declined to press charges against the funeral organisers.
Sirait said the incident happened because the ladder was not sturdy and properly reinforced to the structure.
He added that Kondokura's body has been buried beside his mother.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that a 22-year-old man, Agaezichi Ogbonna, allegedly killed his mother over a love affair with the mother’s sister at Akpaa Mbato community, Obingwa council area of Abia state.
According to Vanguard, family sources stated that Agaezichi was having a love affair with his mother’s sister.
However, his mother, Blessing, warned against the relationship, describing it as a taboo in Igboland.
The deceased reportedly met the lovebirds at home and warned them to desist from the love affairs, but Agaezichi allegedly pounced on his mother and beat her to death.
