The north London club confirmed that they have acquired the services of German goalkeeper Bernd Leno yesterday, while Stephan Lichtsteiner already joined the Gunners squad from Juventus.

According to Daily Star, Borussia Dortmund's for £16 million rated defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos is close to sealing a move to the Emirates Stadium, while Torreira is not far from being confirmed.

And that has been confirmed by Sampdoria's president Massimo Ferrero, who was asked about the midfielder's future.

"Torreira has left for €30m (£26m)," he explained.

Daily Star also claims that the 22-year-old has been touted as a perfect replacement for Jack Wilshere, who will leave the club at the end of this month.

Wilshere's contract expires at the end of this month and he has not been offered a fresh contract by the north Londoners, and he has confirmed yesterday that he will be leaving the club after 17 years.

He announced his departure after talks with Emery confirming his playing-time would be reduced.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira is on the brink of sealing a summer switch to Premier League campaigners Arsenal.

According to sources at Tribal Football quoting Sky Italia, eggheads of both clubs have concluded terms over a transfer fee for the top Uruguay international, but the midfielder is now the only obstacle that may stop the deal from seeing the light of the day.

The 25 year-old Torreira's present contract at Sampdoria has a €25 million buyout clause which Gunners’ representatives are willing to accept.
