Ex-Kebbi governor Dakingari served corruption charges by EFCC
- The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally served a court charge to Alhaji Usman Saidu Dakingari
- The anti-graft agency had accused the former governor of Kebbi state of evading its operatives for over a month
- Dakingari has however been served on Thursday, June 21, with the fifteen count charge
After allegedly evading operatives of the EFCC for over one month, former governor of Kebbi state, Usman Saidu Dakingari was on Thursday, June 21, served with a 15 count charge by the bailiff of the Federal High Court Kebbi at around 1:51pm in his residence at GRA Birnin Kebbi.
According to the EFCC, the charge was served on the defendant through one of the occupants of his household, Mohammed Danladi, who collected the charge and the court order issued by the court granting the complainant leave to serve Dakingari alongside the 2nd and 3rd defendants.
Dakingari was supposed to be arraigned today before the Federal High Court Kebbi alongside three others: Sunday Dogonyaro, Abdullahi Yelwa and Garba Rabiu Kamba for allegedly receiving cash sum N700,000,000 (Seven hundred million naira) only from the former minister of petroleum resources, Diezani Allison Madueke.

The arraignment was however stalled because the 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants evade service and refuse to honour invitation by the commission.
Consequently, the prosecution was only able to produce the fourth defendant, Garba Rabiu Kamba before the court.
However, Johnson Ojogbane applied for an order of court pursuant to section 382(5) of ACJA to grant the prosecution leave to serve the defendants through either their counsels, sureties, am adult member of their household or on their last known address.
The application was granted as prayed and the matter was subsequently adjourned to Monday, June 25 for arraignment.

Meanwhile, the EFCC has reopened its investigation into a N21.74 billion Independent Power Plant (IPP) project in Oghara, Delta state.
The contract for the project was awarded by the Delta state government to an indigenous firm, on June 23, 2009 for the supply and installation of two Rolls Royce Trent gas turbine generators to boost power generation and distribution in the state.
Legit.ng gathered that it had an initial contract term of 60 per cent down payment and completion period of 24 months. The firm accepted the offer and promised to complete the contract within the stipulated time frame, but didn't meet up.
