Premier League club Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Brazil international, Fred, from Shakhtar Donetsk.

There have been stories in recent months about the Brazilian making a big summer move to Old Trafford in a fee believed to be around £52m.

And now, it has been confirmed on United's social media page with the player dressed in the traditional red, white and black kit have been released by the club.

After Brazil's pre-World Cup friendly match against Croatia at Anfield, sources claimed that the team granted him permission to undergo medicals with United.

Jose Mourinho has been keen to complete the deal before the start of the Russia 2018 World Cup but it is now officially been sealed.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder would fit into the holding midfield which will allow Paul Pogba play in a more advanced position.

Fred is a member of Brazil's squad currently campaigning for their sixth world title at the Russia 2018 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Manchester City and Manchester United had been on the hot chase for Fred.

Shakhtar Donetsk have confirmed Fred will be heading to either of the Manchester sides this summer, with both clubs at logger-heads for the Brazilian star.
