LASU student jumps into Lagos lagoon in a bid to kill self

A certain Kingsley Gabriel, a student of the Lagos State University (LASU), jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on Monday, June 25, at about 11am.

According to reports, Gabriel plunged into the water from the Falomo Bridge, without any particular reason for doing so.

Legit.ng gathers that the student was however saved from drowning by officials of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA).

The unfortunate incident was confirmed by the agency’s general manager, Damilola Emmanuel, who lamented over the increasing spate of such occurrences in Lagos state.

An official of the agency further disclosed that Gabriel was taken to the Falomo Police Station for onward interrogation, after being rescued.

It is still not clear why the young man decided to end his life; and efforts to interview him have not yielded any results so far.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that an unidentified woman was said to have committed suicide by jumping into the Lagos lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge on the evening of Sunday, June 10.

The unknown woman reportedly made her jump from the UNILAG end of the Lagoon.

While some eyewitness claimed she parked a Ford SUV on the bridge before making the fatal jump, others said she was not the owner of the SUV; and that the owner witnessed the jump while trying to dissuade her from jumping.
