Marcos Rojo on Tuesday night, June 27, celebrated the goal he scored against the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup by eating pizza on the plane.
The Manchester United defender scored in the 86th minute and his goal sent Argentina to the knockout stage of the Russia 2018 beating Nigeria 2-1 in their final Group D game.
Marcos Rojo, 28, explained according to Dailymail UK that Barcelona star Lionel Messi gingered their morale against the Super Eagles in the second half.
''Messi came up to us and told us to calm down and not be stressed. 'We felt nervous and that message helped us a lot and gave me personally a huge confidence boost.
''He is our captain and he's the best captain in the world, it was amazing to score that goal.
''Messi told everyone that it was either life or death. It could've gone badly. We could've conceded but Leo was stubborn.
''He told me to run forward. Even Javier Mascherano. He told everyone to attack no matter what. He truly read the game and risks. He's a leader. The best,'' Marcos Rojo said according to Dailymail.
Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Argentina left it late for them to book their place in the round of 16 in Russia 2018 after a 2-1 victory against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Goals from Messi and Rojo secured qualification for Argentina as Chelsea winger Victor Moses also scored his first goal in the World Cup for Nigeria.
