After crashing out at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia at the Group stage, Gernot Rohr who is the head coach of the Super Eagles, has made it clear that he wants to stay with the team.

Nigeria were bundled out of the World Cup after losing their last Group D game against Argentina in which a draw would have secured qualification to the round of 16.

Gernot Rohr who had revealed before that his players will be ready for the next World Cup has now stated that he wants to stay.

'’Its my desire to stay on with this fantastic team. They are a young team both in the defense and the attack. Its a team with a good cocktail of passion, discipline and enthusiasm,'' Gernot Rohr said according to Vanguard.

Gernot Rohr was named manager of the Super Eagles of Nigeria by Amaju Pinnick who is the chief of the Nigeria Football Federation in August 2016.

He won his first game in charge of the Nigerian national team defeating Tanzania by a lone goal in Uyo and lost his first in charge after a 2–0 home loss to South Africa.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Argentina left it late to book their place in the round of 16 in Russia 2018 after a 2-1 victory against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Goals from Messi and Rojo secured qualification for Argentina as Chelsea winger Victor Moses also scored his first goal in the World Cup for Nigeria.
