Algeria Football Federation shortlists Gernot Rohr for vacant managerial position

Super Eagles Franco-German manager, Gernot Rohr has been shortlisted for the vacant managerial position at Algeria’s Desert Foxes, suggests report coming out of the North African nation.

According to Algeria’s highly-rated sports daily Le Buteur, eggheads of the Algerian Football Federation after their meetings shortlisted Rohr alongside six others that include Christian Gourcuff, Vahid Halilhodzic, Hervé Renard, Carlos Queiroz and Alain Giresse for the vacant managerial position.

The North Africans are eager to get their football back in order after dismissing former international, Rabah Madjer, no thanks to poor run of results that saw the Desert Foxes' fall to the quartet of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde and Portugal in pre-World Cup games.

Interestingly, Rohr before the commencement of hostilities at the ongoing World Cup in Russia extended his contract with Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) until 2020.

However, the report further revealed that there’s a clause inserted in Rohr’s deal that permits the 65-year-old football tactician to discuss his departure after the Mundial in Russia.

At the last count, the former Bordeaux and OGC Nice coach has also managed national teams of Niger, Burkina Faso and Gabon.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has made it clear that he wants to stay with the team after Nigeria were bundled out of the World Cup after losing their last Group D game against Argentina .

The Franco-German football tactician who revealed that his players will be ready for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar , has now stated that he wants to stay.
