It's been a bumpy ride to becoming a lawyer for Nigerian Law School graduate, Amasa Firdaus who was denied the right of being called to bar on December 12, 2017, despite successfully graduating Law School.

Firdaus joined thousands of her colleagues to be called to bar but was denied because she was adamant on wearing hijab instead of the provided wig. Her denial sparked controversy on social media as well as within several Muslim groups who came together to condemn the action against one of their own.

After defending her choice for several months, on July 10, Amasa Firdaus was finally called to bar and allowed to wear her hijab. A photo from the occasion was shared on Twitter by Bashir Ahmad, the personal assistant on new media to the president.
