- The race for the 2019 presidential election is gaining momentum as the days go by
- One of the aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), is making inroads in the political space
- Turaki, also known as KTT, has been endorsed by the Northern Missionary Forum
The Northern Missionary Forum, a fellowship of Christian Missionaries with membership drawn from states in Nigeria, USA and Taiwan, has endorsed the aspiration of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, to seek the presidency of Nigeria in 2019.
The endorsement came after the 18th annual missionary conference held by the forum recently.
In a letter to the aspirant, the national coordinator of the forum, Bishop David Ina, D.D. (JP), explained that, “the leadership of the body has declared its unalloyed support for Kabiru Tanimu’s quest to lead the country at this critical period, in recognition of his steadfastness, consistency, commitment to worthy beliefs, and his sterling leadership qualities when he was a minister and also outside public service.
"The Northern Missionary Forum has, therefore pledged to support the presidential aspirant’s campaign with intercessory prayer network, grassroots campaign and voters’ mobilization, as well as donation of assorted materials such as posters, customized note books, lapel pins, stickers, T-shirts and banners, among others."
The forum, however, demanded that the aspirant should make it a priority to work for the good of the people, build and strengthen government institutions, and not individuals.
They also tasked the Kebbi-born politician to give attention to rural infrastructural development to help the inhabitants fulfill their basic needs and also live a socially and economically productive life, in addition to providing skills acquisition programmes for rural youths and women, especially the young widows.
The forum which is involved in rural outreach empowerment programmes, informed that it will announce the endorsement of Turaki to all participants at its next event scheduled for Thursday, July 19 to Sunday, July 22 in Benue state.
The endorsement comes barely six days after the forum of PDP local government chairmen declared support for Turaki's aspiration to seek the presidential mandate of the PDP at the party’s convention.
The chairman of the forum, Kabiru Bello Dandafo, assured Turaki of their support ahead of the party's primary election later this year.
