PDP to decide on Kashamu this week - Secondus

The national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has said that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party would meet and take a decision on the appropriate action against Ogun East senatorial district Senator, Buruji Kashamu, this week.

Secondus disclosed this in Abeokuta during the weekend after the NWC members met with a faction of the PDP loyal to a member of House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu, Vanguard reports.

Reacting to complaints by leaders such as Adebutu, Chiefs Iyabo Apampa and Sina Adejobi on Kashamu’s alleged roles in the party which they claimed had been a clog in their efforts to win elections in the state, Secondus said: ‘’The NWC members have listened and heard you clearly. We will go back to Abuja and by next week you will hear from us.

“Let me assure you that the party is now a rebranded and repositioned party. Though a long walk, it is a walk to rescue the nation. All the departments, legal and others will swing into action and we will do the needful. Your request will follow the rule of law.

"Our party has a constitution; we will be guided by the rules and get back to you. We have resolved that we must do that which is right. We want you to join us in the fight to rescue our nation.”

Earlier, Adebutu in his welcome address had complained of challenges that Kashamu created for the party.

According to him, a lot of court judgements had been making it difficult for the party to move forward and win elections in the state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously that Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday, July 15, urged northern leaders of the PDP to pick a consensus presidential candidate to satiate the party’s determination to dethrone the All Progressives Congress in 2019.

Wike stated this while hosting PDP presidential aspirant and former special duties minister, Kabiru Turaki, in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

He said all Nigerians want the APC-led federal government sacked in 2019 and all the opposition party needs is to seize the opportunity and present one candidate from the north who will defeat the APC, and the rest of the country will support such a candidate.
