Premier League campaigners Manchester United have accepted an £18.1 million offer to sell Daley Blind to Ajax, the Old Trafford outfit have confirmed on their Twitter handle.

According to a UK Sun report, the 28-year-old Blind becomes Ajax’s record signing after returning to the club he left four seasons ago when signed by ex-United manager Louis van Gaal.

The Dutch international was left out of Red Devils pre-season tour of the US, suggesting that talks have reached advanced stage as Manchester United flew out on Sunday.

On Monday, it was disclosed that Blind had already teamed up with his new club, including a session with them ahead of the new Eredivisie campaign.

Blind linked up with the Red Devils in 2014 after a decent World Cup with Holland following their third place finish under Van Gaal, who then brought the defender to Old Trafford in a £13.8m deal.

Interestingly, Blind is a versatile defender who can play as a centre-back and left-back or even as a midfielder, Blind made 124 appearances in his first three years, claiming the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League with the club.

However, during last campaign Ashley Young was frequently used at left-back which left Blind consigned to the subs bench.

Already, club boss Jose Mourinho brought in the duo of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof after arriving in 2016.

While neither made the position their own, English duo Phil Jones and Chris Smalling were preferred over Blind.

On the other hand, Blind failed to make the bench for Manchester United's FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea and fellow left-back Luke Shaw is now expected to move back to that position, leaving the Dutch ace with no choice but to move elsewhere for regular football.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Manchester United are reportedly ahead to land Juventus fullback Alex Sandro who is also wanted by Chelsea this summer.

The 27-year-old was snubbed from the Brazil squad that crashed out of the ongoing 2018 World Cup in Russia. Though, he has two more seasons on his current contract with his Serie A side, he has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.
