Turaki consults with Babangida ahead of 2019 presidential elections

- The race for the 2019 presidential election is gaining momentum as the days go by

- One of the aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), is making inroads in the political space

- Turaki, also known as KTT, recently went on a consultation visit to Nigeria's military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd)

Frontline PDP presidential aspirant, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), has visited former military president, Ibrahim Babangida in Minna, Niger state in continuation of his consultations with former leaders and elders in the country, as he pursues his presidential ambition.

Kebbi-born Turaki, a former minister of special duties under the Goodluck Jonathan's government, is one of the leading aspirants for the office of the president in Nigeria's main opposition party, the PDP.

He has been on the road visiting leaders of the party and the nation to intimate them of his ambition ans seek their advise as the PDP's presidential primary election draws near.

Speaking during the visit, the former military president commended Turaki for his campaign, and urged him to sustain his vision to move Nigeria forward.

His words: “I commend your experience, vigor and drive to get this country moving. Your vision have identified areas critical for the development of the country. We have no option but to keep the unity of this country. You cannot achieve anything without it.

“I endorse your idea about how to move Nigeria forward. I commend you for pursuing the vision of our founding fathers.”

Meanwhile, the Northern Missionary Forum, a fellowship of Christian Missionaries with membership drawn from states in Nigeria, USA and Taiwan, has endorsed the aspiration of Turaki.

The endorsement came after the 18th annual missionary conference held by the forum recently.

In a letter to the aspirant, the national coordinator of the forum, Bishop David Ina, D.D. (JP), explained that, “the leadership of the body has declared its unalloyed support for Kabiru Tanimu’s quest to lead the country at this critical period, in recognition of his steadfastness, consistency, commitment to worthy beliefs, and his sterling leadership qualities when he was a minister and also outside public service.”
