Professor Jerry Gana, Nigeria former minister of information has disclosed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed Nigerians woefully.
The former minister disclosed this to newsmen in Makurdi on Monday, July 16 during the Middle Belt Forum mega rally, Daily Trust reports.
The rally was staged to protest that the APC led government in the country failed to provide security for the safety of Nigerians which is its primary responsibility.
"Because the Constitution of Nigeria said and we agreed with it, that the security and safety of people is the primary responsibility of government and any government that cannot do that has failed. Therefore, this APC government has failed, failed and failed woefully," he said.
Gana also said that in view of the insecurity currently pervading the country, there is need for the country's policing structure to be restructured.
He called for federal, state and even community policing so that the people can stay safe.
Going further, Gana emphasised the need for restructuring of the country and devolution of power to the federating units.
"We love peace, we love freedom, we love the federal republic of Nigeria but we'll never accept that our lands are taken away from us and will become homeless people in our own country. It's not possible," Gana concluded.
