Premier League side Chelsea are plotting to hijack Liverpool's move for Brazil’s Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker after tabling £65 million bid.
According to a UK Sun report, if the Blues’ are able to sign the Brazilian then they will allow Belgium’s shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois to leave the West London side for Santiago Bernabeu in the coming days.
The Reds were nearing a deal for the Brazilian international after offering £62m to close the deal before the just concluded 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
However, the Blues are unwilling to welcome defeat and employing all in their arsenal to lure Alisson to the Stamford Bridge at the last minute.
Newly employed Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has already brought in midfielder Jorginho from ex- club Napoli.
The Blues are no strangers to last minute rush after pouching the likes of Brazil’s midfielder Willian from London rivals Tottenham in 2013.
Also, Belgium’s forward Michy Batshuayi was close to penning the dotted lines for West Ham two years ago before Chelsea arrived the scene and everything turned in their favour.
The Stamford Bridge might be forced to let go about £30m to allow Courtois’s La Liga switch to see the light of the day.
The Belgian has 12 months left on his present deal but has repeatedly said that he will not extend his contract at Chelsea
Interestingly, Courtois went public that he will see what Chelsea have to offer in the coming days before taking a final stand on the issue.
The Belgian has been linked severally with the Los Blancos and has publicly declared his intentions to return to the Spanish topflight having represented Atletico Madrid while on loan from Chelsea.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Chelsea are ready to sell current number one goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois this summer and replace him with Roma star Alisson.
Courtois is said to have refused to commit his future to the Stamford Bridge club, and the Blues are said to be scared of losing him for free next summer when his contract will expire.
According to the report by UK Sun, respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims the FA Cup winners are ready to cash in on Alisson this summer.
