Traditional ruler kidnapped, son killed in Kogi

The entire Jakura town in Lokoja local government area of Kogi state was plunged into mourning as the traditional ruler of the town Chief Usman Ajibola, was kidnapped, while his son, Rufai Ajibola, was killed by gunmen.

The spokesperson of the Kogi state police command, William Ayah, confirmed the incident to Channels Television on Tuesday, July 17.

Legit.ng gathered that the monarch and his son were returning from Oworo town when the kidnappers attacked them within Imo and Igbonla communities about 15 kilometres to Jakura town.

Numbering about five, the abductors reportedly whisked the chief as well as his driver away and killed the son as he struggled to rescue his father.

The case, according to the police, is now being investigated.

Meanwhile, the corpse of the late Rufai has been deposited in a mortuary in Lokoja.

Legit.ng previously reported that a security guard, Yushe'u Bala, 20, and his accomplice, Sale Bala, 25, were arrested by the Niger state police command for kidnapping the 10-year-old son of his boss at Dutsen-Kura, Minna and demanding N150,000 ransom for the release.

Bala revealed that he and his accomplice who was also a security guard in the area kidnapped the boy to raise enough money so they could stop their security jobs and venture into business.
