Governor Samuel Ortom and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state met with Senate president Bukola Saraki in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital on Wednesday, July 18.
New Telegraph reports that they also attended the Fidau Prayer for Late Alhaja Aishat Baraje, Mother of Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, a senior member of the Reformed All Progressives Congress (APC).
Although the purpose of their meting is not known yet, there is growing speculation that Ortom may defect to the Peoples Democratic Party after he announced his exit from the APC.
Also present was Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and his Kwara counterpart, Fatai Ahmed.
The Cable reports that the meeting is geared towards the likely defection of the parties involved to the PDP ahead of 2019 elections.

Meanwhile, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, said the party has at no time shut out Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state from its fold.
Oshiomhole in a report in Leadership dated Wednesday, July 18, insisted that Ortom remains a member of the APC having restated his allegiance to the party in the media.
The APC chairman, however, declined to respond to unverified reports about Ortom’s defection, saying he could not respond to issues on the basis of rumour.
