- Peoples Democratic Party has asked NEC to declare its candidate, Prof. Olusola Kolapo Eleka as winner of Ekiti gubernatorial election
- The PDP claimed that new facts have emerged to the National Working Committee (NWC) to warrant for the call for declaration of Eleka as the authentic winner
- They alleged that the original result of the election was in favour of the party's candidate before it was allegedly altered
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been urged to declare Prof. Olusola Kolapo Eleka as winner of Ekiti state gubernatorial election which was held on Saturday, July 14. This was contained in a statement by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
PDP in the statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, claimed that new facts have emerged to the National Working Committee (NWC) to warrant for the call for declaration of Eleka as the authentic winner of the poll.
The party alleged that the original result of the election was in favour of the party's candidate before it was allegedly altered.
"After a thorough examination of all hard facts the NWC re-confirms that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) doctored the result of the election to favour the All Progressives Congress (APC).
"The NWC therefore calls on the leadership of INEC to immediately correct their results, apologise to the people of Ekiti state and be ready to admit their falsifications before the tribunal so as to return our mandate which was stolen at 'gun point' on July 14," the party said.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Rivers state governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike, declared that what transpired during the Ekiti governorship election was the worst political robbery in the nation's democratic history.
Governor Wike then said the APC-led federal government will not be able to replicate the Ekiti political robbery in Rivers state because Rivers people are fully prepared.
The governor made the comment on Sunday, July 15, at the Anglican Cathedral Church of Saint Paul, Port Harcourt during the Thanksgiving Service to mark the end of third year anniversary celebration of his administration.
