Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United are eyeing Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal this summer, reports coming out of Germany suggest.
According to the a UK Sun report citing sources at Bild suggest the Bundesliga champions are ready to offload the Chilean star, who had been severally linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena in the past seasons.
The Old Trafford campaigners missed out on the 31-year-old Vidal, when he left Juventus for Bayern three seasons ago, while Chelsea equally could not seal a move despite series of underground attempts to sign the combative midfielder.
However, the two Premier League sides can now make another move after new Bayern boss Niko Kovac admitted that some older members of his squad will be shown the exit doors at the Bundesliga outfit.
The reported further revealed that Vidal with seven consecutive league titles in Germany and Italy could be available for about £31 million.
Interestingly, the price could likely attract new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, who hinted his midfielders are “lacking in quality” after resuming at Stamford Bridge.
The trio of Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley have all struggled at Chelsea despite big-money moves.
The ex-Napoli manager arrived London with £53m playmaker Jorginho from former club but still needs quality additions before the commencement of hostilities in the English topflight.
On the other hand, Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho remains a fan of the Chilean and is likely to bring in the midfielder for Paul Pogba, whose Old Trafford future is yet to be sorted out.
Presently, Vidal has resumed light training following a minor surgery on his troubled knee, but he is working toward full recovery ahead of the new campaign.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is keen to dump the Premier League for La Liga champions Barcelona, reports suggest.
According to Tribal Football report citing sources at Spain’s Mundo Deportivo, Pogba is banking on his links with Barcelona eggheads after Ramon Planes joined the Catalan club from Getafe a month ago, to force a move away from Old Trafford.
The report further revealed that Planes is an assistant to Barca's sporting director Eric Abidal who is a close pal of Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola.
