Following the alleged increment of tuition fees by the management of Ladoke Akintola University, some fresh and returning students have kicked against the move leading to unrest in the school's vicinity.
There has been unrest and tension in Ladoke Akintola University in Ogbomoso, Oyo state capital, after the management of the institution allegedly increased the tuition fees for its new and returning students.
The increment, which has been seriously objected to, will reportedly affect students from 100-400 levels. The management, after its 133rd meeting held on Thursday, July 5, came up with the resolve, adding that it was necessitated by the present financially realities of the institution.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that the University of Ibadan (UI) had increased its fees for tuition and accommodation, for undergraduates at the institution.
The development was made public in a communiqué announcing the new fee schedule for the 2018/19 academic session, which was released on the school’s website.
A student of the department of history who identified himself as Temitope, stated: “Not all departments were affected. I think five departments were affected in Faculty of Arts. For those ones, they said its studio fees. The departments are English, Linguistics, Communication and Language Arts, European Studies, Theatre Arts. They are paying N2,500 extra.”
