- Manchester United battle Leicester on August 10 in their Premier League opener
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that the following four defenders that include Valencia, Bailly, Smalling and Shaw will likely tackle Leicester in their first fixture of the new Premier League campaign.
According to a UK Sun report, the Red Devils squad members are currently on tour of the United States of America with a mixed blend of experienced stars who did not play any role at the 2018 World Cup as well as youngsters that include the trio of Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong and RoShaun Williams.
The Portuguese was on the sidelines as the Red Devils battled Club America to a 1-1 draw in the early hours of Friday and the ex-Chelsea boss was quick to declare that his defence line for the August 10 Premier League opener against Leicester is ready.
“The line-up has the most possible men because the objective is to prepare them for the season where we don't have many other players.
"Valencia, Bailly, Smalling and Shaw, probably they are the ones to start the season.
"As for Herrera, Scott, Matic and Fred are coming next week, so there are a bit more solutions.
"Mata, Martial and Demetri Mitchell, hopefully, Alexis is coming, and not much more for the start of the season.
“We have to try and develop these players and this team,” Mourinho added.
Interestingly, the Old Trafford dwellers are presently without squad members that represented their countries at the global football fiesta in Russia like Nemanja Matic, David De Gea, Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba, Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford.
The Red Devils will tackle San Jose Earthquakes next on Sunday, with Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez expected to be in action after resolving his recent visa issue.
Manchester United are expected to square up against some European heavyweights during their pre-season tour that include the quartet of AC Milan, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich before returning to the UK.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Manchester United superstar Alexis Sanchez will join his teammates in the United States in a few days to start preseason preparations with the squad.
The 29-year-old was initially denied visa by the US goverment due to the tax case leveied against him while playing for Barcelona.
Jose Mourinho's men are scheduled to play five matches while in USA and were probably not expecting their most paid player to be part of the games.
