The Plateau Scholars and Researchers Forum (PSRF) has revealed that politicians are responsible for the killings going on in villages in Plateau state.
According to Daily Trust, this was contained in a statement by its chairman, Professor Danladi Atu. He called on security agencies to work towards identifying the attackers.
“To them (politicians), it is they that should be on the pedestal of power and dictate the direction of the state apparatus and its future," he said.
Atu said internal collaborators were fueling the violence claiming the recent attacks on Governor Simon Lalong’s convoy was done by some politicians to make the state ungovernable.
NAIJ.com previously reported that barely four days after the deadly attacks that left 86 people dead, Plateau state House of Assembly set up a seven-man special committee to probe the attacks in parts of the state.
The panel headed by Yusuf Gagdi is to investigate the Saturday, June 25 killings in 11 villages in Barikin Ladi local government area and some villages in Bokkos and Riyom.
The committee is to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the attacks, identify the perpetrators, ascertain the number of communities affected and the extent of destruction and make appropriate recommendations.
