Delta APC crisis increases, as police bar Erue from secretariat

- Crisis has rocked Delta state chapter of the APC when the police are said to have stopped Prophet Jones Erue led executive from gaining access to the secretariat

- The state police command was said to have mobilized its men to seal up the secretariat to forestall the breakdown of law and order

- A police leadership in the state is said to have confirmed the development

Crisis in Delta state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Friday, July 20, took to another dimensions as the opposing groups seemed to have clashed at the state secretariat of the party in Asaba, the state capital.

Vanguard reports that the police stopped the Prophet Jones Erue led executive from gaining access to secretariat to inaugurate their local government executive.

Prophet Jones Erue was sworn in by the National Chairman of the Party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on July 16 while while Chief Cyril Ogodo executive was sworn in by the immediate past National Chairman of the Party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun along 32 other state chairmen of the Party on June 4.

It was learnt that the Olorogun O’Tega Emerhor led tendency and Chief Great Ogboru faction has been in a supremacy battle over who should be in control of the Party in the State.

The state police command was said to have mobilized its men to seal up the secretariat to forestall the breakdown of law and order.

A source close to the police leadership in the state confirmed the development, adding that the police commissioner has slated a meeting with the two warring groups on Thursday, July 19.

As at the time of filing this report, armed police officers were still at the party secretariat.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara state stated that his principal, Senate president Bukola Saraki and other top political leaders of the APC were gradually being shown out of the party.

The governor’s comment was contained in a statement signed by his senior special assistant on media and communication, Dr Muideen Akorede, in Ilorin, the state capital.

The governor disclosed that he is yet to take a decision on his political future with the APC.
