- The Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) is the new political bride in Nigeria's politics
- The group has been the toast of political parties in the country in recent times
- The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole seems not bothered by the emergence of the group
The national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, on Monday, July 23, insisted that he is not losing sleep over the Reformed-APC faction, Punch reports.
He made the statement while responding to State House correspondents who asked if he was losing sleep over the group.after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“You have seen me, do I look like I’m losing sleep?” the former Edo state governor said in response to the question.
Oshiomhole had said he could not lose sleep over the breakaway faction of the APC.
Reacting to the comment, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP spokesman, said Oshiomhole dismissed R-APC yet went ahead to pay a nocturnal visit to Buba Galadima, its chairman, “in what appeared a fence-mending gesture.”
Meanwhile, the National Executive Committee and Board of Trustees of the PDP would hold emergency meetings on Monday, July 23, to discuss demands by some members of the newly formed Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).
The meeting would discuss the choice of a strong presidential candidate for the coalition in 2019, and the demand by some members of the R-APC.
The parties had agreed to field a single presidential candidate that would unseat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. The PDP alone had over 15 presidential aspirants while many of the political parties that signed the MoU also had their presidential hopefuls.
