The senator representing Kogi west senatorial district at the Senate, Dino Melaye, has raised the alarm of alleged assassination attempt on his life.
NAIJ.com reports that Malaye on Tuesday, July 24, while citing order 14 of the Senate rule, alleged that the police attempted to assassinate him while leaving his home state, Kogi.
Melaye was one of the fifteen All Progressives Congress (APC) senators who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during Tuesday, July 24, plenary session.
Reacting to Melaye's comments, the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, said he was happy to see the Kogi's senator, adding that they would continue to ensure that they protect themselves.
He said: “Senator Dino Melaye, we are happy that you are back and safe and I thank God for your life. As you have described, it has been a very horrific situation and we will continue to ensure that we protect ourselves and you in this journey.”
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that the Nigeria police said the force was ready to declare the senator representing Kogi west at the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, wanted.
Melaye was invited by the Nigeria police over his allegation that police attacked his convoy on his way to inaugurate a project in his constituency on Thursday, July 19.
