- Chelsea place bid for veteran shot-stopper Robert Green
- The ex-England shot-stopper spent last season with Huddersfield
- The 38-year-old will be used as cover for Courtois and Caballero
Premier League side, Chelsea, are looking to sign veteran goalkeeper Robert Green in a shock free transfer.
The 38-year-old goalkeeper is heading to Stamford Bridge to join as cover after a year spent on the Huddersfield Town bench.
The former England international was considering hanging up his gloves after being released by the Terriers and taking up a new career.
However, the Chelsea call is too good to refuse for the former West Ham and Leeds United shot-stopper.
Jamal Blackman and Eduardo are out on loan as the veteran goalkeeper is set to sign for just a season.
Green may play in some cup competitions as he waits for a game behind Thibaut Courtois and Willy Caballero, who are currently the Blues number one and two.
He began his career at Norwich City and made over 200 appearances for the Canaries before the Hammers signed him in 2006.
After six years at Upton Park Green moved across London to QPR for a further four seasons in the Championships.
Green left Loftus Road in 2016 to spend a year with Leeds before heading to Huddersfield Town 12 months ago.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had earlier reported that Chelsea have place a bid to sign Pepe Reina from AC Milan.
The former Liverpool goalkeeper has just moved from the Napoli to San Siro but wishes to work with former boss Maurizio Sarri.
