Kwankwaso visits Sule Lamido in Abuja minutes after leaving APC

- Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, who is no doubt a heavy weight politician visited a key stakeholder of the PDP, immediately after his defection from the APC

- He had led the senators who defected to other political parties from the ruling APC on Tuesday, July 24

- The reason for Kwankwaso's visit is yet unknown

Former Kano state governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Tuesday, July 24, visited the Abuja residence of Alhaji Sule Lamido.

Kwankwaso embarked on the visit, 30 minutes after he led 13 other senators to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the red chamber.

Kwankwaso and Lamido were close allies while they both held sway as governors of Kano and Jigawa states respectively.

It is not clear what the meeting between the two political heavy weights was about as at the time of filing this report.

Both men are however eyeing the presidential seat in the 2019 general elections and have not hidden their desire about it.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the Kano House of Assembly, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, said Kwankwaso's defection isn't a surprise.

Abdulahi said Kwankwaso was only a symbol in the APC and his exit wasn't unexpected, adding that his decision was long overdue.

However, he added that the senator's edit won't affect the party's chances of winning the 2019 general elections.
