- Brazil's Fred hits Manchester United camp in the United States
- The 25-year-old was given a break after the World Cup in Russia
- Other first team players are still expected to join the team soon
Jose Mourinho has finally received some good news after new signing Fred joined up with Manchester United's pre-season squad on tour in the USA.
The 25-year-old jetted into California on Thursday after observing the break given to him by the club following his involvement with Brazil at the World Cup.
The Brazilian international is United's only major signing so far this summer after he joined from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk for £52m.
The Portuguese manager opened up on how Fred will fit into his midfield plans with the quest to hunt down holders Manchester City beginning in just over two weeks
“People like Nemanja Matic, Marouane Fellaini, Paul Pogba, even Ander Herrera, are physical and strong midfielders,” said Mourinho at a press conference during United's tour of the USA.
“We think that players like Fred, and Andreas Pereira, are more technical, passing and playing in short spaces and maybe connecting with the attacking players.”
Fred's arrival means David de Gea, Victor Lindelof, Paul Pogba, Marcos Rojo, Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young, Marcus Rashford, Sergio Romero, Marouane Fellaini are the United's first team stars absent in training camp.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had earlier reported Alexis Sanchez was in scoring form as Manchester United defeated AC Milan 9-8 in a thrilling penalty shoot-out in their International Champions Cup fixture in Carson, California.
The Chilean 12th minute goal that gave the Red Devils the lead only lasted for three minutes before Suso equalized for the Serie A side.
