Senator Dino Melaye has been reportedly released after it was alleged that he was abducted by unknown gunmen.
It was alleged that the Kogi senator was kidnapped on Thursday, July 26, on his way to Kogi state for his court case.
However, the senator in a tweet on Friday, July 27, claimed he had just escaped the abduction.
He said he spent 11 hours in the wilderness and thanked Nigerians for their prayers and show of love that kept him safe.
The senator also thanked God for his escape from yet "another dangerous attack". According to him, it was that God preserved him.
NAIJ.com had reported that senator Ben Murray Bruce (PDP-Bayelsa) confirmed that his colleague, Dino Melaye, was kidnapped by gunmen.
Previous unconfirmed sources had disclosed that Senator Melaye was attacked by armed men at the Gwagwalada area of Abuja, as he made his way to Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, on Thursday morning, July 26.
NAIJ.com notes that the senator, who recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was scheduled to appear at the magistrate court in Lokoja.
Anonymous sources disclosed that the lawmaker was attacked by men who blocked his way in a Toyota Sienna vehicle.
