Pogba has not been having the best of times with United's manager Jose Mourinho and the rumours have been spreading that the Frenchman has had enough of the Portuguese coach.
The World Cup winner with France came under heavy criticisms in the past but proved them wrong after helping Les Bleus clinch the title in Russia.
On the other hand, Abidal was reported to be behind the signing of Brazilian winger Malcolm at the last minute, after distracting the player from conducting a medical with Roma.
It is also understood that the France legend has a full knowledge of the French market and also his influence on players.
And Pogba may have delayed his return to United's camp early following his meeting with Abidal.
