- Neymar has teamed up with Paris Saint-Germain after his extended World Cup holiday
- The 26-year-old met up with his new manager Thomas Tuchel and other new faces for the first time
- The Ligue 1 holders take on Monaco in the Trophee des Champions in China
Brazil superstar Neymar has teamed up with Paris Saint-Germain as he begins training for the new season with the French Ligue 1 champions.
According to a UK Dailymail report, the 26-year-old Selecao star after arriving China on Wednesday hooked up with his club mates at their Shenzhen base on Thursday morning, following an extended vacation after the summer World Cup in Russia.
The French side are in Asia ahead of their Trophee des Champions fixture with Monaco, as the French Federation take their season curtain-raiser away from home as many of the squad members were on hand to welcome the Brazilian with smiling faces.
Captain of the side Thiago Silva left his chair to exchange pleasantries with his compatriot while there was a big embrace from Argentina’s Angel di Maria.
However, after meeting some new faces too, Neymar saved the best for the last when he met club new manager Thomas Tuchel.
The German took over the helms of affairs at Parc des Princes from Unai Emery at the commencement of the summer and after meeting his star player with a hug, he uttered a quiet word in his ear.
In addition, there was also a big smile on the face of veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon who was meeting his new club mate following his switch from Serie champions Juventus.
Interestingly, the Brazilian still has a lot to prove in a PSG shirt after he could not complete the second stanza of the league season due to injury.
Neymar has not put on PSG colours since the second month of the year and his exploits at the Mundial has won him little or no favours.
The Brazilian was reportedly ridiculed globally for his constant play-acting on the pitch which he has tried to explain in a recent scripted apology in a 90-second advert.
Tuchel is already drumming support for his star player to bounce back to reckoning after a poor World Cup in Russia.
“Everybody here wants to help Neymar to feel good as soon as possible, to set his next goals and help him leave what happened at the World Cup in the past.
“Neymar is a great player and he knows how to handle wins and losses. In sport, you are presented with challenges, and he will quickly bounce back. Neymar is a champion,” the German football tactician was quoted as saying by ESPN.
PSG face Monaco at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre at 1pm BST on Saturday, August 4.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Neymar is on the receiving end after news filtered in that he collected over £200,000 for a 90-second video in which he pleaded to Brazilians for mercy after appearing like a “spoilt kid” on the field of play.
According to a UK Sun report, the not carefully planned ad shows the Paris Saint-Germain star admitting he magnified fouls during the mundial, but promised to turn a “new man” following his poor show at the global football fiesta in Russia.
The Brazilian forward netted twice in the tournament after overcoming a broken foot and was widely condemned for frequent dives during Brazil matches, until the Selecao were sent packing from the mundial in the quarter-final by Belgium’s Red Devils.
