Local government chairmen and councillors in Kwara state have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He spoke during a media briefing on the defection on Thursday, August 2, in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
Meanwhile, the gale of defections from the APC to the PDP and other parties has been described as a strategic plan by enemies of Ndigbo to ensure that the presidency eludes the southeast come 2023.
This was stated by an APC chieftain in Imo state, Prince Anthony Chyma, in a press statement sent to NAIJ.com on Tuesday, July 31, in Abuja.
He said a calculated attempt is being made to thwart the chances of President Muhammudu Buhari from handing over power to a candidate from the southeast come 2023.
