- Manchester United target Axel Witsel will not be leaving his Chinese Super League side this summer
- The former Standard Liege midfielder currently plays for Tianjin Quanjian
- He helped Belgium win bronze medal at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and he has since then been linked with a move to top European teams
Tianjin Quanjian head coach Paulo Sousa is confident Belgium midfielder Axel Witsel will not be leaving the Chinese Super League side before this summer.
The 29-year-old was impressive for his national team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup staged in Russia after helping Roberto Martinez's men win bronze at the end of the championship.
He has however been linked with a move to Old Trafford as Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho looks to strngthen his squad before the start of a new season.
Furthermore, the Premier League side are said to have made an offer for the Standard Liege and Benfica midfielder, but his coach believes he will remain at the club.
According to the Mirror, Axel is also wanted by German League side Borussia Dortmund, but Witsel's exit is unlikely to happen after Paulo Sousa denied all reports.
Speaking to CGTN, the Portuguese was confident when discussing the Belgian’s future at the club.
"I have received no information about Witsel’s transfer situation, neither from the club nor from the player himself.” he said.
"So as I understand it, he has a clause in his contract, but this clause can only be triggered within the [Chinese] transfer windows, and that has already shut in China.”
Sousa added: "This transfer will not happen."
