Just in: APC in Kaduna suspends Senator Shehu Sani as rift with El-Rufai continues

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna, on Thursday, August 2, announced that a senator from the state, Shehu Sani, remained suspended from the party even though he refused to defect like his colleagues recently.

The confirmation was made by the party’s chairman in the state, Emmanuel Jekada, who said Sani was on an indefinite suspension.

Premium Times reports that Jekada said this in a statement.

He was quoted as saying: “As the newly elected chairman of the party in Kaduna state, records available to me have confirmed that Senator Shehu Sani has been on indefinite suspension since 2017 by the party leadership of Tudun Wada Ward 6, Kaduna South local government area of Kaduna state.

“His indefinite suspension is still on and valid.

“A media campaign cannot change the valid position of duly constituted party organs.”

Few minutes before the confirmation, This Day quoted Ibrahim Salisu Togo, a factional chairman of the party in Shehu Sani’s Ward 6, Tudun Wada, as announcing that the senator remained suspended.

“In all fairness to the party and Kaduna State voters, the only pre-condition for lifting this suspension on Senator Shehu Sani is for the lawmaker to openly apologise to the leadership of our great party for his various acts of misconduct and disrespectful attitudes towards both his constituents, party leadership and his vicious media attacks against our amiable President Muhammadu Buhari.

“He should also apologise to the government and people of Kaduna state for frustrating the $350 million loan meant to develop the state,” Togo said in his own statement.

Legit.ng earlier reported how Senator Shehu Sani (APC-Kaduna) said he was yet to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to any other party.

Sani made this known in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday, July 13.

Senator Shehu Sani also met with President Muhammadu Buhari after his colleagues at the Senate defected recently.

At the meeting, the senator said that he believes in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. The senator spoke after the senators on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) met with the president on Wednesday, July 25.
