Pedro Rodroguez has penned a one year contract extension with the current English FA Champions Chelsea.
The 31-year-old winger joined the Blues from Barcelona in a four year deal worth £21.4 million in 2015 and has won a Premier League and one FA Cup titles with the club.
This new deal will now see the 2010 World Cup winning attacker remain at the London club until the summer of 2020.
After signing the contract extension earlier this week, Pedro told the club's website that: "It is very good for me, I am really happy here in the club, with my team-mates, the supporters and the club in general.
"It’s important for me to continue with Chelsea, I am comfortable here and want to win new titles and trophies. I want to help the team, score goals, and I repeat, I am really happy.’
Also reacting to the continuous partnership between the club and the player, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: "We are very happy to secure Pedro’s services for another year. Since becoming a Chelsea player he has regularly demonstrated his quality on the field and we look forward to seeing him continue to flourish under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri."
Upon his arrival in 2015, he scored on his debut against West Bromwich Albion, and his side second season at the club, he scored 13 goals in all competitions - which memorable long-range stunners against Tottenham, Bournemouth and Everton.
He won the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award twice, while he featured 35 times in the Premier League as the club lifted the title in style in 2017.
Pedro has played 131 times for Chelsea so far, scoring 28 goals. He has begun the current pre-season in fine form, netting in our games against Perth Glory and Inter Milan.
NAIJ.com previously reported that Chelsea beat Inter Milan 5-4 on penalties in their International Champions Cup preseason tourney after playing 1-1 in the normal regulation period on Saturday evening at the Allianz Riviera.
Pedro Rodriguez put the Blues in front just eight minutes into the match after powering home a rebound from an Alvaro Morata's shot which was saved by Inter's goalkeeper.
The goal gave the Premier League side some advantage as they won a free kick at a vantage point in the 12th minute but Marcos Alonso failed to convert the chance that was handed to him.
